South Range Project
Expansion and reconfiguration of the Saint Catherine’s library
The library is on the second floor of the South Wing. This 1930s-50s building has been damaged by earthquakes.
The old library has been stripped out and reconfigured to accommodate individual stainless steel boxes for about 2,000 books and manuscripts. Structural repairs have been made and safe electricity and plumbing are being installed. A conservation workshop, digitisation studio and library for modern books will be created.
