The East Wing Cells
The two-storey earthen and timber East Wing cells were constructed of poor materials and had deteriorated over time. Father Theoktistos and a team of Bedouin helpers restored the structure over a period of years (2004–08) to plans produced by the architect and conservation consultant Dr Petros Koufopoulos, and with the authorisation of the Egyptian Council of Antiquities.
